The regeneration process of our skin

The cells in our skin are capable of dividing and renewing themselves throughout our lives. In young skin, up to +/- 25 years of age, the skin renews itself within 14-28 days. This renewal process takes place in the outer layer of the skin, the epidermis. New skin cells are constantly being formed in the basal cell layer, which keratinize and migrate to the surface of the skin. So after just a few weeks we have a completely new skin. Over time, genetic factors, oxidative stress, lifestyle and the environment have a decisive influence on the time at which the first signs of skin ageing become visible. However, one thing is certain: the older we get, the slower the skin’s own regeneration process becomes and therefore also changes the appearance of our skin.

The first changes in the epidermis become visible from the age of +/- 25. However, processes also change in the dermis, the deeper layer of the skin. The collagen fibers are located in the dermis. Collagen is the main component of connective tissue and ensures the elasticity and firmness of the skin. It is also an effective moisture reservoir. Gradually, collagen synthesis begins to slow down more and more. The skin remains elastic due to the remaining elastin. Nevertheless, the first wrinkles form as a result of the decline, usually around the eyes and mouth. With increasing age, elastin production also decreases. The skin then usually becomes drier and thinner. Fat and moisture content decrease, the lack of elasticity causes the skin to sag and clearly visible wrinkles appear. In addition, pigment spots and other skin changes caused by UV rays become increasingly visible due to reduced cell activity. Overall, the skin loses radiance and firmness as it regenerates more slowly with age.

On a scientific basis, there are only a few ingredients that are able to counteract these natural ageing processes. Together with dermatologists and scientists, jung skin uses the knowledge gained from research and the most effective ingredients to create a concentrated serum on a cellular basis. The revolutionary Super Concentrate promotes the skin’s essential renewal process by deeply stimulating the skin’s own regeneration to create new, young cells. Thanks to intensively concentrated 10% glycolic acid and 2% salicylic acid, even the collagen and elastin synthesis in the innermost layers of the skin is activated. With regular use, the combination of active ingredients rebuilds the skin – it is hydrated, feels smoother and softer, looks more even and refined and appears increasingly firmer and more resilient. It renews, revitalizes and regenerates the skin. The result is a more even and radiant complexion with fresh, active skin cells. You can find out more about our ingredients and their effects in the article AHA & BHA – ACIDs in skincare, where we go into more detail about AHA – alpha hydroxy acids and BHA – beta hydroxy acids.

By the way… our skin works day and night. During the day it serves as a protective shield against external influences such as air pollution and UV rays, but after the sun goes down it becomes active for cell regeneration and strengthening. A healthy lifestyle and restful sleep are therefore just as important as the right skin care.
